EyeLink Host PC Backup Utility

The EyeLink Host PC Backup utility is a useful tool when completing the one-time upgrade on the EyeLink 1000 Plus (from v5.1* to 5.5) and the EyeLink Portable Duo (from v6.1* to 6.5). This utility will copy all EyeLink Data Files (EDFs), the camera SCD file, the customized configuration files (INI files), and the eye*.log files (if selected) from the Host PC to the Display PC.

You only need to use this utility for one-time upgrades, as normal software updates using the Host PC's software update tool will create an archive and maintain the existing files.

Instructions

1. Download the utility to your Display PC which should be connected to your Host PC with an ethernet cable.
   
2. Power on your Host PC (if not already on) and exit to the File Manager by pressing Control+Alt+Q on the Host PC.
   
3. In the utility, select where you want to save the backup using the Browse button, e.g. the Desktop.
      
   
4. Verify the IP address used by the uility. The standard IP is 100.1.1.1 but If your EyeLink has a modified IP address, change the IP address in the utility to your custom address (most users will not need to do this).
   
5. Select the files you want to backup (e.g SCD, INI, EDF, logs etc).
   
6. Click Backup.
   

Troubleshooting
If you encounter any issues, the most common causes are:

1. The EyeLink Host PC software is running, and needs to be quit to the file manager (press Control+Alt+Q on the Host PC, or click Exit EyeLink).
   
2. The Display PC is not connected to the Host PC with an ethernet connection, or that connection is not properly configured (see this forum post).
