Experiment Builder Legacy Releases

The Latest Version of Experiment Builder can be found HERE.

If your stimulus display computer is running an older operating system or legacy hardware you may need a older revision of Experiment Builder. However keep in mind that you should ALWAYS be using the latest version of Experiment Builder when possible. The currently installed version of Experiment Builder does not alter the behavior of any deployed projects currently used for data collection and all versions of Experiment Builder are backward compatible, so there isn't any benefits to using an outdated version unless absolutely required for compatibility purposes. You will not have access to the latest features and bug fixes when using outdated versions of the software.

Microsoft Windows - Please see the Release History for notes on the operating system version compatibility, feature implementation, and bug fixes Apple macOS - Please see the Release History for notes on the operating system version compatibility, feature implementation, and bug fixes

Installing Experiment Builder

Windows

Download and run the .exe installer from the link above
If this is your first time installing Experiment Builder, after the main installer completes you will also need to install the HASP license driver (applicable to both physical USB license keys and software license activation codes)
  • Start menu -> All Programs -> SR Research -> Install HASP Driver
Optional support for video playback in various formats:

For supporting the operation of Split AVI and converting video files from other formats into XviD encoded .xvd files intended for use with Experiment Builder please install the packaged XviD codec installer that can be found at the following local path:
  • 64-bit (x64) Windows: C:\Program Files (x86)\SR Research\3rdparty\XviD-Install.exe
  • 32-bit (x86) Windows: C:\Program Files\SR Research\3rdparty\XviD-Install.exe

For supporting other common video formats in Experiment Builder please install the FFDshow codec that can be found at the following local path:
  • 64-bit (x64) Windows: C:\Program Files (x86)\SR Rsearch\3rdParty\ffdshow

If the 64-bit ffdshow installer is not found in that location, please download it from here: ffdshow_rev4531_20140628_x64.exe
  • 32-bit (x86) Windows: C:\Program Files\SR Research\3rdParty\ffdshow

If the 32-bit ffdshow installer is not found in that location, please download it from here: ffdshow_rev4531_20140628.exe

macOS

If you have a previous version of Experiment Builder installed on the computer, please uninstall it first by removing the "/Applications/ExperimentBuilder" folder to Trash
Now click the dmg installer of the software. Select the "ExperimentBuilder" folder in the package, and drag and drop it into the "Applications" folder

When running Experiment Builder for the first time, if you see the error message “ExperimentBuilder is damaged and can’t be opened” when you try installing the software, please click the Apple logo in the top-left corner and select “System Preferences”, then go to “Security & Privacy” and under the General tab make sure “Allow apps downloaded from:" is set to “Anywhere” (you may need to click the padlock to make changes).
If the USB license dongle is not glowing red, in the same Experiment Builder installation popup window double click on the "HASP" folder and install "Sentinel_Runtime.dmg". You may have to unplug and replug the USB license dongle after installing the HASP driver.
If you are using the recent macOS, you may be prompted to download legacy Java 6 and install it.
