Host software for the EyeLink 1000. This version is compatible with the following mounts (using either a Standard or Fiber Optic camera):

In general, USB keyboards or mice should not be used with recent Host PC models (Dell Optiplex 755 / 760, Precision 390 / 490 / T4300, or the custom-made Host PC) due to potential interference with tracker performance.

⚠️ Important: Before You Begin
- Be sure to back up your existing host elcl directory before proceeding.
- Make note of any custom changes you have made to your .INI files. You may need to re-apply them after the update.
- Download and Preparation
- On a separate, internet-connected computer, download the correct software version.
- Choosing the Correct Version:
- Desktop Mount:
- If the illuminator is on the right side of the camera (when facing it), download the Right version.
- If the illuminator is on the left side of the camera, download the Left version.
- If the illuminator is on the right side of the camera (when facing it), download the Right version.
- Arm Mount:
- Download the Right version.
- Tower / Primate / Long Range Mount:
- You may download either the Left or Right version.

- Choosing the Correct Version:
- Save the downloaded .zip file (e.g., elcl_4.594_right.zip) to a USB drive.
- On a separate, internet-connected computer, download the correct software version.
- Installation Steps
- Reboot the EyeLink Host PC. When prompted, select Windows (not EyeLink).
- In Windows, navigate to the EYELINK partition (this is usually the D: or E: drive).
- Find the existing ELCL folder and rename it to elcl_old and . (This is your backup).
- Plug in the USB drive containing the new software.
- Copy the .zip file from the USB drive to the Host PC's desktop.
- Extract the zipped file. This will create a new ELCL folder.
- Move this new ELCL folder to the root of the EYELINK partition (E: ).
- Verify that your E: drive now contains both the new ELCL folder and your backup, elcl_old.
- Reboot the EyeLink Host PC. When prompted, select Windows (not EyeLink).
- Restore Previous Configuration
- Navigate to your backup folder: E:\elcl_old\EXE.
- Find and copy the file with the .scd extension.
- Paste this .scd file into the new folder: E:\ELCL\EXE.
- Go back to the E:\elcl_old\EXE folder.
- Copy the files PHYSICAL.INI and FINAL.INI.
- (Optional) If you use a USB keyboard:
- Go to the new E:\ELCL\EXE folder.
- Find the file elcl.usb and rename it to ELCL.INI.
- (Optional) If you use a USB keyboard:
- Paste these two files into the new E:\ELCL\EXE folder. If Windows asks, choose to Replace the existing files.
- Cut and paste E:\elcl_old\ from the EyeLink partition to your Windows desktop to free up space.
- Navigate to your backup folder: E:\elcl_old\EXE.
- Finalize
- Unplug the USB drive. (This is important, as it can interfere with the host software).
- Shut down Windows and reboot the Host PC.
