FAQ: Can I get the raw video feed directly from the camera?
#1
Unfortunately, it is not currently possible to record the high speed video directly from the EyeLink camera. The high framerate data sent by the camera to the Host PC is not actually "video" data. If you want to record (low framerate) video of the eyes, there are a few possible workarounds:
  • Use a scan converter / analog-to-digital converter to take the VGA output of the Host PC and send it to another computer or recording device to record it.
  • Point a video camera at the bottom half of the host display screen (where the thumbnail images are) and simply record it.
  • Point a video camera at the participant's eye and use a flash or beep / TTL at the start of each trial to synchronize this video recording with the eye movement data.
Note that during actual recordings only the thumbnail images of the eyes will be available, and these refresh at around 30Hz.
