FAQ: What is the Illuminator Power setting for?
#1
The illuminator power buttons are used to adjust the amount of infrared light generated by the infrared illuminator on the EyeLink 1000 and EyeLink 1000 Plus Desktop mount. Typically, the Host PC will auto-select the ideal illuminator power for your system configuration.

In some cases, it may be necessary to adjust the illuminator to compensate for certain factors that make the default settings inadequate. For instance, if the participant has glasses the typical illumination power of 75% may be inadequate as the glasses may reflect some infrared light. Increasing the illuminator power to 100% can help compensate for such situations where the image contrast is too low. In general, if the camera image looks "dark" then increasing the illumination level can be helpful and will allow optimal threshold values to be set.
