The Illuminator Power setting adjusts the brightness of the infrared (IR) illuminator on the EyeLink 1000 and EyeLink 1000 Plus Desktop mounts.
While the Host PC typically selects the ideal power level automatically, you may need to increase it manually in certain situations to improve the camera's view of the eye.
A common rule of thumb is: if the camera image appears too dark (pupil threshold is <70 after proper adjustment), increase the illuminator power. This will improve image contrast and allow for a more accurate pupil threshold setting.
For example, you may need to increase the power from the default 75% to 100% when a participant wears glasses, as the lenses can reflect some of the IR light away from the camera.
