FAQ: EyeLink II: what is the difference between the Pupil-CR and Pupil Only modes?
#1
The EyeLink II system allows gaze to be tracked in either Pupil-CR (Pupil - Corneal Reflection) or Pupil Only mode.
  • The Pupil-CR mode is less susceptible to drift than the Pupil Only mode, as the corneal reflection helps to correct for headband slippage.
  • However, the Pupil-CR mode only supports 250 Hz tracking, whereas the Pupil Only mode can track at up to 500 Hz.
For experiments in which the participant will be moving a lot (such as real-world navigation or kinesiology experiments), the Pupil-CR mode is recommended.
