Rapid Serial Visual Presentation Task

Required Experiment Builder Version: 2.2.299 or higher
EyeLink Required: No
Type: Complete Example
Difficulty Level: Advanced

This example illustrates:
  • How to use Sequence node to rapid presentation of a series of screens with
  • How to use Update Attribute action, and Timer trigger (using the "Start Time" attribute) to scheduling the upcoming screen display
  • How to use Result File node to save data output and message text for debugging
  • How to use Randomization Setting to randomize a list
  • How to use Splitting Column to have multiple Data Source Files

This example is based on Experiments 1 and 2 of the Rapid Serial Visual Presentation (RSVP) task described in the following paper:
  • Raymond, J. E., Shapiro, K. L., and Arnell, K. M. (1992): Temporal Suppression of Visual Processing in an RSVP Task: An Attentional Blink? Journal of Experimental Psychology: Human Perception and Performance, 18, 849-860.
Please read the method section for details of the experiment procedure. Please note that the screen refresh rate, presentation rate, colors / luminance, and response methods used in this example are different from the original study.

NOTE: Please see The Implementing the RSVP Paradigm in Experiment Builder Webinar for alternative versions and some considerations to programming a RSVP paradigm.
