Implementing the Accumulated Looking Paradigm in Experiment Builder
Delivered Friday, June 5 2020, 1pm EST
The Accumulated Looking Paradigm, which is often used in developmental psychology and related fields, involves using an eye tracker to monitor gaze position in real-time during stimulus presentation to ensure that the participant has viewed a trial's stimulus for a certain amount of time before ending the stimulus presentation. For example, in a given trial, the participant may need to accumulate 10 seconds of total viewing time on an image before the trial ends. You can imagine a virtual stopwatch timing the amount of time the participant has viewed the stimulus; when the participant's gaze moves onto the stimulus, the stopwatch starts. When the gaze leaves the stimulus, the stopwatch stops. Once the stopwatch reaches 10 seconds the trial ends (or the next phase of the trial begins).
