We strongly recommend updating to the latest EyeLink host software for important stability enhancements.
EyeLink 1000 Plus, EyeLink Portable Duo, EyeLink III
To update the EyeLink 1000 Plus, Portable Duo, Portable Remote, or EyeLink III Host software, please choose one of the two options below:
Update from a connected Display PC :
Update directly from the Host PC via USB:

EyeLink 1000 Plus, EyeLink Portable Duo, EyeLink III
To update the EyeLink 1000 Plus, Portable Duo, Portable Remote, or EyeLink III Host software, please choose one of the two options below:
Update from a connected Display PC :
- Download the relevant file for your system
- You can download the latest version of the EyeLink 1000 Plus Host software from this thread (Note: host software prior to 5.50 cannot be upgraded to versions above 5.50 without first going through the One-time Upgrade process first)
- You can download the latest version of the EyeLink Portable Duo Host software from this thread(Note: host software prior to 6.50 cannot be upgraded to versions above 5.50 without first going through the One-time Upgrade process first)
- You can download the latest version of the EyeLink 1000 Plus Host software from this thread (Note: host software prior to 5.50 cannot be upgraded to versions above 5.50 without first going through the One-time Upgrade process first)
- Start up the Host PC.
- Exit the host software by pressing Ctrl-Alt-Q to access the File Manager.
- From your Display PC, open a web browser (e.g., Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Safari, etc.).
- In the browser's address bar, type the Host PC's IP address (e.g., 100.1.1.1) and press Enter.
- From the remote file manager interface in your browser window, click on the Configuration icon:
- From the configuration screen, select System Update:
- Click the Choose Files button to locate the update file (a .duo file for the EyeLink Portable Duo or a .GOP file for the EyeLink 1000 Plus).
- Click "Update."
- The software update may take a few minutes. Please wait for it to complete.
- The Host PC will reboot when the update is complete.
Update directly from the Host PC via USB:
- Format a USB drive to FAT32
- Download the relevant file for your system to the main directory of your USB drive.
- You can download the latest version of the EyeLink 1000 Plus Host software from this thread (Note: host software prior to 5.50 cannot be upgraded to versions above 5.50 without first going through the One-time Upgrade process first)
- You can download the latest version of the EyeLink Portable Duo Host software from this thread(Note: host software prior to 6.50 cannot be upgraded to versions above 5.50 without first going through the One-time Upgrade process first)
- You can download the latest version of the EyeLink 1000 Plus Host software from this thread (Note: host software prior to 5.50 cannot be upgraded to versions above 5.50 without first going through the One-time Upgrade process first)
- Start up the Host PC.
- Exit the host software by pressing Ctrl-Alt-Q to access the File Manager.
- Click on the Configuration icon:
- From the configuration screen, select System Update:
- The update file should be detected automatically. If not, click Choose Files, navigate to the USB drive (/fs/usb0), and select the file manually.
- Click "Update."
- The software update may take a few minutes. Please wait for it to complete.
- The Host PC will reboot when the update is complete.
EyeLink 1000
- Download the Host software, making sure to select the correct file for your mount configuration (either the right or left illuminator version).
- Copy the downloaded .zip file to the main directory of a USB drive.
- Boot the Host PC into the Windows partition
- Navigate to the EyeLink drive (typically D: or E:)
- Copy the ELCL folder from the EyeLink drive to your Windows desktop. Then, rename this copied folder to ELCL_OLD to serve as a backup.
- Plug in the USB drive and extract the contents of the zip file.
- From the extracted zip file, copy the new ELCL folder directly to the EyeLink drive. When prompted, choose to overwrite or replace the existing ELCL folder.
- Open the ELCL_OLD backup folder on your desktop. From the EXE folder inside it, copy the PHYSICAL.INI and FINAL.INI files.
- Paste these two .INI files into the new ELCL/EXE/ folder on the EyeLink drive to restore your previous configuration.
- Reboot the Host PC
