Option 1: If you have a Display PC connected to the Host PC then the easiest way to update the software is on the Display PC side. Please follow the instructions below:

- Start up the Host PC. From the Host PC Application, press Ctrl-Alt-Q to exit the Host PC to the File Manager
- Then, from your Display PC open a web browser (e.g., Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Safari, etc.). Type 100.1.1.1 in the address bar and press Enter. This should allow you access to the Host PC's File Manager through your Display PC's browser

- Then select System Update
- Now choose the Update tab and click on the Choose Files button to locate the file (a '.duo' file for the EyeLink Portable Duo or a '.zip' file for the EyeLink 1000 Plus) and then click Update
- Wait until the host software is updated - please be patient as this process may take a few minutes to complete
Option 2: If you are using a stand-alone Host PC (i.e., your Host PC is not connected to a Display PC):

EyeLink 1000
- Download the relevant software for your EyeLink 1000 mount setup from the following thread, either the right or left illuminator version
- Save the downloaded '.zip' file to a USB drive
- Turn on the Host PC and wait for the initial menu that prompts you to boot into Eyelink or Windows, and boot into Windows
- In Windows, click on Start > Computer and find the EyeLink partition, likely called EYELINK E:
- Inside the Eyelink partition (double click on EyeLink) you should see a folder called 'elcl', rename this folder to something like ‘elcl_old’ so you’ll have a backup
- Plug in the USB drive and copy the zip file to the desktop
- Extract or unzip the new version of the software onto the desktop and copy the elcl folder onto the the EYELINK E: drive so that in the EYELINK E: you should now have 'elcl' and 'elcl_old' folders
- Go to \elcl_old\EXE, find the file with a '.scd' extension and copy this *.scd file to the new \ELCL\EXE folder
- Go to \elcl_old\EXE, find the files called PHYSICAL.INI and FINAL.INI and copy them into the new \ELCL\EXE folder (if it tells you that the files are already there, simply replace them with these new ones)
- Reboot the Host PC
