FAQ: What does the warning "your current DPI does not match expected DPI..." mean?
#1
This warning message typically appears when your computer's display settings differ from those the experiment was designed for. This can cause stimuli, especially text, to appear incorrectly sized or positioned. This is usually caused by:
  • Display Scaling: Your operating system's display scaling is set to a value greater than 100%.
  • Resolution or Monitor Change: You are using a different monitor or a different screen resolution.
The simplest way to fix this is to set your Windows display scaling to 100%.
  1. Right-click on your desktop and select Display Settings.
  2. Find the Scale and layout section.
  3. Change the scaling percentage to 100%.

Note: If you're using a high-resolution screen (e.g., 4K), setting the scaling to 100% might make text too small to read. In this case, you may also need to lower your screen's display resolution (e.g., from 4K to 1920x1080) to improve legibility.

Alternative Actions
  • Ignore the Warning: If you test-run the experiment and all stimuli look correct, you can likely ignore this warning.
  • Clean and Rerun: If stimuli appear incorrectly, first check the project's settings in Experiment Builder (Devices > Display > Resolution). After confirming they are correct, click the Clean button (the broom icon) and test-run the project again.
