FAQ: Can I run my experiment from a shared drive or transfer it from another computer?

To ensure optimal performance and timing accuracy, always test and deploy Experiment Builder projects on the local hard drive of the Display PC used for data collection.

Recommended Workflow: Package the original project (File menu -> Package), transfer it to the target PC, and unpack it locally. Run a test to verify compatibility and performance before completing the final deployment. This process ensures the experiment is configured correctly for the specific hardware and prevents compatibility issues.

Avoid running experiments from:
  • External storage devices (e.g., USB drives)
  • Network drives
  • Cloud-synced folders (e.g., Dropbox, Google Drive)
Running projects from these locations can cause timing errors and operational failure, particularly when the experiment uses large video or image files.

Important: Do not transfer deployed projects from one PC to another. The deployment process optimizes the task for the specific machine it is built on; these optimizations are not transferable and moving the folder will likely result in errors or degraded performance.
