FAQ: What does "Error: Invalid Tracker Type" mean?
#1
The errors "Invalid Tracker Type" and "Configuration matching ID not found" both indicate a mismatch between your Experiment Builder project's settings and the physical EyeLink hardware connected to your computer. Specifically, there is a conflict in one of the following properties, which can be found in the Devices -> EyeLink tab:
  • Tracker Version
  • Camera Mount
  • Mount Usage

The solution is to ensure your project's settings accurately reflect your hardware setup. Carefully review and adjust the properties listed above to match your physical eye-tracking system.

If you're using an EyeLink 1000 / 1000 Plus Desktop mount, you must also correctly set the Desktop Version property (Illuminator on Left vs. Illuminator on Right). An incorrect selection here can also trigger the "Configuration matching ID not found" error.

For testing you can set the Tracker Version property in your project to "Current".

This allows the project to run with whatever EyeLink system is currently configured on the Host PC. However, it is not advised to deploy a project with this option set to "Current". When "Current" is enabled the host software settings are not enforced when the project starts. This can result in inconsistencies between sessions if any settings are manually changed on the Host PC.

How to Verify Supported Hardware Modes
If you're unsure which modes your eye tracker supports:
  • On the Host PC, go to the Set Options screen.
  • Click the Select Configuration button to see a complete list of supported hardware configurations.

Troubleshooting Tip: If you don't see the expected modes in this list, check that the camera is mounted correctly and all cables are secure, then reboot the Host PC.
