FAQ: How can I make a "difference" Heat Map?
#1
You can generate difference heat maps in Data Viewer to visualize the contrast between two conditions.
  1. In the Inspector window, select the two groups or trials you wish to compare.
  2. Right-click on one of the selected items.
  3. Choose Create Difference Fixation Map from the menu.
Important: The order in which you select the items determines the direction of the subtraction. The calculation is performed as:
(First Selection) - (Second Selection)

  • Positive Areas: Indicates more fixations in the First Selection.
  • Negative Areas: Indicates more fixations in the Second Selection.

Exporting Raw Heat Map Data
You can export the raw pixel data from any fixation map for complex visualization or statistical analysis in external software (e.g., MATLAB, Python).

To enable this feature:
  • Go to Inspector > Preferences > Output / Analysis > Fixation Map.
  • Select Output / Analysis > Fixation Map.
  • Check the box next to Export Heat Map Matrix.
This will generate a .TIF data file containing the raw fixation density values for every pixel in the map.
