FAQ: How can I add messages in Data Viewer

You can add new messages to your Data Viewer session to mark specific events or add annotations. This can be done individually or by importing a list for batch processing.

1. Adding a Single Message Manually
   
   1. Right-click anywhere within the Trial View window.
      
   2. Select the Add Message option.
      
         
   3. In the dialog box, enter your message text.
      
   4. Choose the time base (reference time) for your message:
      • Trial Time: Relative to the start of the trial (0 = Trial Start).
        
      • IP Time: Relative to the start of the current Interest Period.
        
      • EDF Time: The absolute timestamp within the EDF file.
        
   5. Enter the timestamp and click OK.
      
2. Importing a Message List (for Batch Additions)
   If you have a large number of messages to add, you can import them from a formatted file on a participant-by-participant basis.
   
   
   1. In the Inspector window, right-click on the participant you want to add messages to.
      
   2. Select Import Message List.
      
         
   3. Navigate to and select the formatted text file containing your messages.
