FAQ: Do I need to change the lens if I change tracking modes?
#1
For the EyeLink 1000 and EyeLink 1000 Plus, you will need to change the lens when you switch between different tracking modes, such as from Head-Stabilized to Remote mode. Each configuration requires a specific lens or option of lenses:

If using the EyeLink 1000 Plus, the lenses should be used in the following modes:
  • 35 mm: Head stabilized (monocular or binocular)
  • 25 mm: Remote mode using the target sticker (monocular or binocular) -- this lens will tolerate less participant movement, but will produce lower noise data
  • 16 mm: Remote mode using the target sticker (monocular or binocular) -- this lens will tolerate more participant movement, but will produce higher noise data
If using the EyeLink 1000, the lenses should be used in the following modes:
  • 35 mm: Head stabilized, monocular
  • 25 mm: Head stabilized, binocular, with the camera in the 45° angled position.
  • 16 mm: Remote mode using the target sticker (monocular only)

The EyeLink Portable Duo uses a fixed lens which cannot be changed.
