Occasionally corrupt calibration files can cause issues for the Host PC software. A common symptom is everything working perfectly during calibration, but then at the validation or recording stage, the eye is no longer tracked. The thumbnail image of the eye may show a "BOUNDS" error, and typically the crosshairs disappear. This issue can sometimes occur after attempting to calibrate "difficult" participants such as infants, if a "poor" calibration model is inadvertently accepted. It can also occur if the Host PC has been provided with inaccurate information about the screen dimensions and distances. The solution is to ensure that the Host PC has the correct screen information, and to delete the calibration files. Please refer to your systems installation guide to ensure that you have configured the screen settings appropriately, and check your experimental script is providing sensible values to the screen_dist and screen_phys_coords commands if these are being used.
