How Reports are Structured
The structure of the output file is determined by two main factors:
- Report Type determines the ROWS: The type of report you choose determines what each row represents. For example:
- In a Fixation Report, each row is a single fixation.
- In an Interest Area Report, each row is a single Interest Area.
- In a Fixation Report, each row is a single fixation.
- Selected Variables determine the COLUMNS: The variables you select in the report dialog will become the columns of your output file.
When you create a report, a dialog box will appear where you can select your variables. There are two main types:
- Built-in Variables: A wide range of pre-defined variables calculated by Data Viewer (e.g., CURRENT_FIX_DURATION).
- Trial Variables: Any variables from your experiment's Data Source or those you created manually in Data Viewer.
