Convert Between Pixels and Degrees
A very useful interactive visual angle calculator that converts between pixels and degrees. The perfect tool for figuring out where to position objects in your eye-tracking task, or how far away your screen should be. Enter your screen resolution, dimensions, and distance on the left, then choose the appropriate tab on the right. Use “Centered” for objects centered on the screen (or the screen itself). Use “One Sided” to compute the distance of objects (e.g. targets in saccade tasks) from the screen center. Use “Off Center” to compute the size of objects that are offset from the screen center. Enter degrees of visual angle or pixels on the right – the app converts from pixels to degrees and from degrees to pixels. You can find out more about how the calculator works in this blog.
Note: the connection to the calculator may close after several minutes of inactivity – just refresh the page and it will be back!
If you’ve found this calculator helpful, why not find out more about eye tracking, and how it can help your research.
We also have calculators for computing the coordinates of targets in a grid or circular array and for computing the location of calibration targets and the trackable range of your EyeLink – give them a try!
